Given that two of my childhood fascinations were Lego and architecture, you may not be surprised that my reaction to this book was akin to a cat experiencing catnip for the first time。 It's informative, beautifully presented, and full of Lego representations of my favourite buildings。 It also had me searching online to see how much the Lego architecture studio set would cost。 If you've not done so, prepare to be disappointed。 I guess I'll be stuck with admiring the pictures rather than having a Given that two of my childhood fascinations were Lego and architecture, you may not be surprised that my reaction to this book was akin to a cat experiencing catnip for the first time。 It's informative, beautifully presented, and full of Lego representations of my favourite buildings。 It also had me searching online to see how much the Lego architecture studio set would cost。 If you've not done so, prepare to be disappointed。 I guess I'll be stuck with admiring the pictures rather than having a go at following the very clear, Lego-style assembly instructions in the book for the showcase models—unless I win the National Lottery at some point。。。 。。。more

Good look at architecture styles and how to build them with Lego。

Cool buildings。

Aika keskinkertainen Lego-kirja, jossa käydään läpi keskeisiä arkkitehtuurisuuntauksia ja niiden versiointia Legoilla。 Kirja on länsikeskeinen, eikä muita arkkitehtuuriperinteitä edes mainita。 Osa Lego-rakennuksista on upeita, mutta kirjassa ei mennä kovin syvälle Lego-tekniikoihin。 Olisi ihan mukiinmenevä arkkitehtuurihistoriikki ja Lego-fiilistelykirja, mutta pointseja tippuu keskittymisestä pelkästään moderneihin ja jenkkisuuntauksiin, sekä ongelmaton länsinäkökulma ja "suurten valkoisten mie Aika keskinkertainen Lego-kirja, jossa käydään läpi keskeisiä arkkitehtuurisuuntauksia ja niiden versiointia Legoilla。 Kirja on länsikeskeinen, eikä muita arkkitehtuuriperinteitä edes mainita。 Osa Lego-rakennuksista on upeita, mutta kirjassa ei mennä kovin syvälle Lego-tekniikoihin。 Olisi ihan mukiinmenevä arkkitehtuurihistoriikki ja Lego-fiilistelykirja, mutta pointseja tippuu keskittymisestä pelkästään moderneihin ja jenkkisuuntauksiin, sekä ongelmaton länsinäkökulma ja "suurten valkoisten miesarkkitehtien" ongelmaton ihailu。 。。。more

This is a great book。 A brief introduction to each architecture style is complemented with examples (both of real buildings and those from lego), instructions for at least one small model, and suggestions regarding common brick colours and types useful for recreating the style。

A great book with synopses on various architectural movements and tips on how to construct models using legos。 They give you a few examples to build with instructions。 Includes a glossary with terms and references。 There are also pictures of various Lego models and photos of actual architectural buildings as examples。 A quick read and a great reference。 I recommend it if you or your kids like legos, architecture or both。

Anyone who enjoys the fun of building with Legos will like this book。 My son is a Lego Building Master and he is featured in this book。

Applying the principles and history of architecture to Legos。

Jesse Richards

I appreciated the examination of real architecture styles here and their history。

Why not use lego to reproduce known buildings? Browsing through this book you are sure to get one or two lego building tricks too。

Du

Pretty simple concept, take a book which summarizes architectural styles and then show step by step Lego instructions to build an example building of that style。 In true Lego form, the designs and steps build on each other and get more complicated。 Very cool book。

It's a decent, quick overview of western architecture and how to create in Lego。 It's a decent, quick overview of western architecture and how to create in Lego。 。。。more

I don't own single Lego, but it has Brutalism, I was sold。A have a dream of this content, being mashed up with Jonathan Meades Dan Cruickshank voice overs as the models are assembled and displayed。Back to the book, it's outstanding detail and depth。 Some of the models are just enough to explain the concepts and the example, but nothing more。This isn't a replica book。 I don't own single Lego, but it has Brutalism, I was sold。A have a dream of this content, being mashed up with Jonathan Meades Dan Cruickshank voice overs as the models are assembled and displayed。Back to the book, it's outstanding detail and depth。 Some of the models are just enough to explain the concepts and the example, but nothing more。This isn't a replica book。 。。。more

Aimee gave me this book for Christmas 2015。 I really enjoyed thinking about the various ways one could make models of different architecture styles using Lego。 Made me want to get the Lego Architect Studio set!

Wonderful look at modern architecture starting with neo-classicalism and ending with the high tech sessions of today's buildings。 The author sprinkles in some quick wit with context based lines throughout the book。 Wonderful look at modern architecture starting with neo-classicalism and ending with the high tech sessions of today's buildings。 The author sprinkles in some quick wit with context based lines throughout the book。 。。。more

The LEGO books put out by No Starch Press, including The Neighborhood LEGO Book, LEGO Adventure, and Beautiful LEGO, among others, are great books to buy, not borrow。 They are better-constructed than the DK LEGO books (i。e。 the page block won't break off the binding the first time the book falls off a table), and include beautiful builds, photographs of real objects and buildings, great - if complicated - instructions, and just。。。 you can tell that the people involved in the making of these book The LEGO books put out by No Starch Press, including The Neighborhood LEGO Book, LEGO Adventure, and Beautiful LEGO, among others, are great books to buy, not borrow。 They are better-constructed than the DK LEGO books (i。e。 the page block won't break off the binding the first time the book falls off a table), and include beautiful builds, photographs of real objects and buildings, great - if complicated - instructions, and just。。。 you can tell that the people involved in the making of these books are passionate and knowledgeable。 Each one is a treat that respects the LEGO child。All my picks for best books to give this holiday are at http://www。unadulterated。us/pink-me/2。。。 。。。more

Wow! Incredible what has been built with LEGO! It's been fun to look through the advanced copy we received of this book with my son and be wowed by the creations pictured。 He especially loves the clear how-tos for building his own models after the pictures。 Easy to follow and fun! It's more of a "how to build" with certain models of styles taking up more time/space than explaining the styles。 Still, it's interesting to see the various styles being done in Lego and the last section of the book explains the Lego "artists" that were featured in the book。Also interesting that Habitat 67 was done in Lego Bricks at the time。 Didn't know that。 It's more of a "how to build" with certain models of styles taking up more time/space than explaining the styles。 Still, it's interesting to see the various styles being done in Lego and the last section of the book explains the Lego "artists" that were featured in the book。Also interesting that Habitat 67 was done in Lego Bricks at the time。 Didn't know that。 。。。more
